A Code of Heart by Jacki Delecki
Miss Amelia Bonnington has been in love with Michael Harcourt since she was nine years old… or so she thought until a not-so proper impassioned and unyielding kiss from the not-so honorable and equally disreputable Mr. Derrick Brinsley, gave her reason to question the feelings of the heart.
Derrick Brinsley, brother to the Earl of Falconbridge, shunned from society for running off with his brother’s fiancée, hasn’t cared about or questioned his lack of acceptance until meeting the beguiling Amelia Bonnington. One passionate moment with the fiery Miss Bonnington has him more than willing to play by society’s rules to possess the breathtaking, red-haired woman.
The Disappearance of Lady Edith by Christina McKnight
One tragic night changed sensible, proper Lady Edith Pelton’s life: when her best friend fell to her death, pushed down a flight of stairs by a nefarious lord. Now, Edith dedicates her time to watching the man she thinks is responsible, while gathering information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honor about London. When her spying is noticed by a perfect stranger, Edith finds herself with two mysteries–what happened to her friend, and how to win the heart of this brilliantly handsome lord.
Scandalous Endeavors by Amanda Mariel
The Duke of Goldstone is devilishly handsome, and has a nasty habit of showing up at all the wrong moments and thwarting Amelia’s carefully laid plans to ensnare a suitable husband. Sparks fly as the pair find themselves at odds with each other and drawn to each other at the same time. Can they find a way to stop arguing long enough to explore their growing passion?
Her Impetuous Rakehell by Aileen Fish
When his cousin dies, Laurence Pierce becomes guardian of a three-year-old girl. He knows nothing about children, and even less about girls. In desperation, he turns to the only lady friend he’s never seduced and begs for help.
Infinitely My Marquess by Dawn Brower
The Marquess of Cinderbury and Lady Annalise Palmer are two lost souls in search of salvation. Together they can help each other heal, if they can believe in love, and in each other long enough to escape the torment they’ve both suffered; as well as, uncover an unimaginable devotion.
The Rakehell’s Seduction by Lauren Smith
Notorious rake Ambrose Worthing takes on a bet to seduce an earl’s daughter and gets more than he bargains for when he meets Alexandra, the feisty country girl who might just warm up his cold heart.
Lady Harper by Jillian Eaton
High-spirited, independent, and rebellious, Lady Harper has no intention of finding a husband. And why should she, when every man she’s ever met has bored her to tears? That is, every man except for one…
The Duke of Greenwood may be many things – arrogant, rakish, and a cad, to name a few – but boring he isn’t. After a chance encounter with Harper leaves him entranced, he vows to make her his wife…The only problem? She can’t stand the sight of him.
But the duke is a man accustomed to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to have Harper…no matter the cost.

Finn Jenkins punched numbers into his cell phone as he walked away. Unlike the men Sophie hung with, Finn paid little attention to his appearance as evident by his disheveled hair, frayed jeans, faded black t-shirt, and scuffed boots. No designer jeans calculated to look worn and torn or expensive wind-blown tussled haircuts held in place by product. Why should Finn go to fashionable lengths when he had the confident, male swagger nailed down? He was a walking version of sex on a stick, and didn’t everyone woman know it? And Sophie had years of watching women pant and beg for that overloaded testosterone.
Familiar with the way he held himself, knowing every gesture of the wild boy she grew up with from the tilt of his head when he was concentrating, to the way his pale eyes lit up when he grinned after one of his practical jokes, or the way he ground his teeth when frustrated—she detected a change.
Something was off in his usual sexy saunter. He was leaning heavily to his left side. His alpha-assertive stride was gone. Had he been injured on his last mission? Knowing the pig-headed man, he’d never admit to being injured or anything that might resemble a weakness, never even admit to being human.
“You look upset, Sophie, what did he say to you?” Alex Hardy, a rock star who wasn’t used to being ignored, startled her out of her absorption with Finn. “I don’t take that kind of shit from my security. Remember, he works for your father. You don’t have to do what he says.”
By the way Finn clenched his phone and his jaw thrust forward, he was giving the IT guy a hard time. This was her fault. She wanted to make Finn laugh, find a way back to their close teasing relationship before her kidnapping, before Finn became tense, on the edge around her. “He didn’t say anything to upset me. He’s just doing his job. And he’s an old friend, so it’s different than your guys.”
“Friend? Are you kidding? The guy’s got the hots for you.”
Sophie jerked back. No way! Finn never showed interest in her. Sophie grew up watching the parade of women pursue Finn and had seen how he let the really blatant ones catch him.
Finn was the reason she went through her bad-boy phase. She always wanted to know what she was missing by the sensual promises in Finn’s seductive smile, the way his body angled toward the woman in his possessive, domineering way. She wanted to be the focus of all that hot male attention.
“No. Never.” Sophie shook her head. “If anything, Finn’s always been in love with my sister.” Finn had to be hurting with the loss of Jordan to another man, not just any other man, but a friend Finn had served with.
“Sophie, trust me. The territorial vibes were strong and clear. Finn doesn’t want me dating you.”
“No, he’s protective. Always been that way.” It had been tense between them after the abduction, but she thought it was her and her hyper-awareness of every little thing around her. Knowing how protective and how committed Finn was, he was trying to come to grips that he
somehow failed her. And since Finn blamed himself for her abduction, he’s gone off the charts to Attila the Hun protector mode. Like the abduction was his fault. Like it was anyone’s fault but evil men.
Sophie looked back at Finn who was watching her and Hardy. She smiled, not sure what had just happened. Always ready for a quick comeback, all she could do was stare when Finn had told her in that low warm rumble that she didn’t know everything about him. His look, his eyes had been filled with promise, sensual promise of long nights…
She was making the whole episode weird. This was Finn, her childhood best friend.

Skip the Super Bowl and have a Book Binge Party instead
On Sunday, February 3, Americans will come together for football, food and fun in Super Bowl celebrations, large and small. From sofas and barstools across the country, fans will cheer on either the New England Patriots or the L.A. Rams.
Are you a football fan? If yes, have a great time on Sunday. If no, don’t worry. This sporting event is a fantastic opportunity to binge on books. Here are a few tips for throwing a Super Bowl Book Binge Party.
Like any special event, you need to plan ahead. Create a To Do list that covers the basics like where the party will be held, decorations, who is invited, food and drink, attire, and any special items needed for the event.
Location – I recommend selecting an area that is super comfortable and cozy. The sofa, your bed or a favorite chair are good options.
Decorations – Deck out the location with snuggly blankets, throw pillows and good lighting. A fireplace or wood-burning stove make for an extra-cozy setting. Bonus features include a four-legged friend to curl up with.
Guest List – Feel free to invite a friend…or not. It’s perfectly acceptable to plan a party for one.
Menu – For a good book binge party, skip the buffalo wings (unless you don’t mind hot sauce smudges on the pages of your book or across your ereader screen). A sub or wrap is less messy (cut into smaller pieces so you can eat with one hand). Snack mixes, pretzels, nuts, veggie sticks, kale chips, fruit slices and nuts are also good options. Don’t forget the good stuff – M&Ms, Gummy Bears (NOT the sugar-free ones!!!) or Twizzlers.
Attire – The dress code for the day is no-fuss, no-muss comfort. Pajamas, sweats, yoga pants, an over-sized sweatshirt. And don’t forget the fuzzy socks!
Special Considerations – The Super Bowl fanatics are all about big-screen TVs. For book bingers, the most important items to have on hand are books. Lots and lots of books. Make sure the titles you want to read are downloaded to a full-charged ereader or that you’ve obtained copies from your favorite local bookstore or library. Nothing ruins a book binge party like kicking things off…only to find your book bestie still has a copy of the book you most want to read.
Whether you come for the books or the balls (footballs, that is) on Sunday, have a great time!
Behind the Bodyguard
There is a bodyguard angle in my new military romantic suspense series, Impossible Mission. In book 1, Mission: Impossible to Resist, Aiden Foster reluctantly takes on a short assignment as a bodyguard to fulfill a promise to a friend. As a Delta Force operative, Aiden has been trained to protect high-value assets but the beautiful socialite who ignores his directives proves to be more of a challenge than he expects. And, at six foot six, Aiden doesn’t blend in to the background like bodyguards are trained to do. In book 2, Mission: Impossible to Surrender, Navy SEAL Finn Jenkins also serves as a bodyguard to protect a gorgeous, wealthy young woman from danger even though it puts him—and his heart—at risk.
Whoever thought guarding bodies could prove so difficult?
When writing these books, I did some research on professional bodyguards. Here are five facts that surprised me.
- Not all bodyguards are armed. One expert explained that a bodyguard’s best strategy is to remove the person they’re protecting from dangerous situations, not fight off attackers.
- TMZ.com is a great source for news about celebrities. Some protection specialists use TMZ.com for information about which celebrities are uncooperative with their bodyguards or who’s having trouble and might be in need of services.
- Social media makes their job harder. Celebrities and entertainers can inadvertently expose themselves to risk by sharing personal information that reveals travel schedules, upcoming appearances and details about their routines and private life. Professional bodyguards often monitor clients’ social media accounts to identify and minimize risk.
- No glitz and glamour for bodyguards. Protection specialists are often part of a luxury lifestyle, but they are not living that lifestyle. Their job might include international travel on private jets to exotic locations, but they are there to do a job, not enjoy the amenities.
- Bodyguard is not their preferred title. Professionals don’t refer to themselves as bodyguards. The preferred term, according to the president and CEO of a company that provides such services, is “executive protection agents.”
I have huge respect for anyone who puts themselves between danger and others, but I’m sticking with “bodyguard”. Executive Protection Agent just doesn’t have the same allure.
